Tynecastle Technical Areas

UEFA compliant dugout upgrades

We’ve worked with Heart of Midlothian FC on a range of stadium improvements at Tynecastle Park. Most recently, we helped the club to increase the capacity of their technical areas to meet the UEFA licensing requirements for European competition.

The challenge was to fit the new shelters into the structural concrete footprint of the previous shelters, whilst also taking on feedback from the football department in terms of seating configuration and pitch sightlines.
Our design solution uses an elegant curved structure, with the geometry derived directly from the heart of the club crest. The curved maroon steel and transparent panels create a robust but visually light structure that integrates with the main stand and feels rooted in Tynecastle’s identity.

We worked closely with the club, engineer, and metal fabricator to a tight deadline and installation was completed in time for the start of the 2024/25 season and the club’s return to European competition. The new technical areas are now fully UEFA compliant and provide state-of-the-art facilities for the first team and coaching staff.

Neil came up with a great design for our new dugouts and worked hard to deliver them in time for the new season

Along with the technical areas we have also carried out concourse improvements at Tynecastle and worked with the club on the heritage-led ‘Maroon Mile’ project, which included the reinstatement of the iconic Roseburn stand signage.

Neil’s involvement with Heart of Midlothian FC extends back to his role as project architect for the second phase of the main stand redevelopment, prior to establishing the practice.
